Dangers of tanning – Miss Maryland 2006 explains how tanning nearly killed her

In this video, Brittany Lietz, Miss Maryland 2006, explains how tanning almost killed her. She was diagnosed with Stage-2 melanoma earlier this year and she believes that her choice to get tanned was the reason behind her skin cancer. She has now recovered and is trying to educate other young women on the darker side of tanning.

Come on people, lay off! So she's reading it. She most likely wrote it. It would be a shame to miss her message because you're too busy picking at the delivery. Just a few weeks ago, a dear 22 year old friend of mine had a melanoma scare. Thankfully, the bioposy came back as benign. I grew up in the 1970s, when tanning was a HUGE deal. Now we know better. But my best friend's husband paid for his sunscreen free beach days with his life, leaving behind 2 small kids. Let Miss Maryland speak, and have the good manner to HEAR what she is saying!

There has never been a case of skin cancer proven to have come from tanning in a tanning bed. I do agree however that tanning should be done in moderation.
